Some of my favorite photo assignments involve tromping around in the woods covering environmental stories. That was the case last weekend when I shadowed a team of volunteers going in Burien's Salmon Lake Ravine Park to clean up and remove non-native plant species.

On an assignment like this, I make a strong effort to get good photos of the event because it's of personal interest to me. But once the work is done, I like to take advantage of the opportunity to get in a little hiking and photography for myself. You have to love a job that lets you do that!
